Frequently Asked Questions

You've got questions. We've got answers.

What funding sources are currently accepted at Better Care?

School services are currently paid for by a student's home school district. Caregiver consultation rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Training are private pay. Our sliding scale is attached for transparency.

Do you offer mentorship to other professionals in the field?

Yes! One of my biggest passions is supporting other clinicians in making their practice more neurodiversity affirming and trauma-informed. Please reach out at lauren@bettercareconsulting.com if you are interested.

Is Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) harmful to Autistic and Neurodivergent people?

This is a complex question. My personal answer is that it has been and can continue to be harmful, if not wielded properly. At its core, ABA is a science, not just a set of rigid protocols. I believe that effectiveness alone isn’t enough; any intervention should be measured by its broader impact, beyond behavior reduction or skill acquisition. Over the past 14 years, my clinical practice has evolved, and I’m sure it will continue to do so. At Better Care, we are committed to listening to and learning from the voices of Autistic and Neurodivergent individuals to guide and shape our approach.

Do you provide professional development at the organizational level?

We offer a variety of topics tailored for both school districts and ABA agencies. Our professional development sessions may be ACT 48 eligible, and with Lauren’s BACB ACE approval, all events qualify for BACB continuing education credits.
